Max Factor: False Lash Effect Mascara Review

I used this mascara a few years ago and I remembered about it recently so I decided to repurchase it. "Max Factor's biggest ever brush with 50% more bristles gives a sweep of never-ending volume for a glamorous look you never thought your own lashes could give you. " Click here if you want to find out more about this mascara. I bought this for £10.99 in Boots in a 3 for 2 offer.

Length: 4/5 This mascara did add some length to my lashes, my lashes are so fair that you can't even see them without mascara so this did make a difference. Although my lashes are already quite long I did find this mascara to be build-able which gave even more length.

Overall Performance: 3/5 I liked this mascara overall, but I didn't find it easy to apply, as you can see in the video it began to clump in areas during the second coat, but a bit of blinking sorted it out eventually. I did feel that it made my lashes look ever so slightly clumpy, I definitely wouldn't put on a third coat. I also find this mascara difficult to remove at night as it is quite pigmented and it also flaked slightly during the day, but it did hold my lashes in place all day. 

Volume: 4/5 This mascara did add good volume to my lashes but I would say that it was a clumpy sort of volume which actually looks good with the right look. I don't think it gave them a 'false' look as I would have liked it to even out my lashes more and give the volumised fan appearance.

Expense: 4/5 For £10.99 this mascara is probably more on the expensive side, but it did give me a nice defined look which was visible from further away (I hate it when you get your lashes looking great only to step back from the mirror and they disappear). It also lats really well but I don't like how difficult it can be to take off, it feels like I'm having to scrub my lashes a bit too much. I would still like to try other Max Factor mascaras to see how they compare.

Today I have a review for the Maybelline Falsies Black Drama Mascara in Black, I bought this mascara in Superdrug for £7.99, it was also on a three for two offer, find out more HERE.

I have used loads of Maybelline mascaras before and they have all been pretty good, there are so many of them that I take ages to choose what ones to buy but their website http://www.maybelline.co.uk/ it great because it shows you the different effects all of their mascaras create.

Overall I actually quite like this mascara which is no surprise because I always find that Maybelline mascaras give good results. I also really like the packaging, I love lace and think the bottle looks glam and that was actually what made me buy this mascara.

Length: 3/5 This mascara did add some length to my lashes, my lashes are naturally long so adding length is pretty difficult for a mascara and it's not something that bothers me too much, but for those looking for any great length I don't think this one added anything remarkable.

Overall Performance: 4/5 I liked this mascara, the formula was wetter than what I normally like but it actually worked really well and didn't get all over my eyelids and face when applying. I also found the formula to be think enough that I didn't need a second coat, I haven't tried many mascaras that I have only needed one coat before. The brush is a normal bristle styled brush with a slight scoop, this made applying my mascara easier as it scooped my lashes upward all together in the same direction which seemed to help with definition and separation. It didn't clump during application but I didn't need a second coat so if a second coat was applied some clumping might occur.

The mascara didn't flake, smudge or transfer during the day and comes off easily with my normal make up wipes. Overall this mascara made my lashes look really nice, sort of fluttery and fuller, my lashes are usually so fine and I want a mascara to separate my lashes to fan them out to make them look thicker.

Volume: 3/5 This mascara added a standard amount of volume to my lashes, a more natural volume which I actually quite like. I just don't think it gave them a 'false' look. My lashes are so fine that without mascara you can't even see them (see the photo above) so this mascara did well at defining them and giving them some volume.

Expense: 3/5 For £7.99 this mascara is a good price, and for the results I got I am pleased with this mascara all in all, I don't think I would buy it again only because I have other mascaras which give me a similar effect and it's not really the look I am searching for that I can use everyday.

Overall I really didn't like this mascara, I felt it did nothing for my lashes and even though I used eyelash curlers (it claims you wont need any) my lashes deflated almost instantly and I have never had a mascara that did this before, it is like it weighed them down too much.

Length: 1/5 This mascara added no length to my lashes, what made it even worse was the fact that it weighed them down so much it looked like I had no mascara on. Perhaps because my lashes are naturally longer and fine the wet formula was too heavy for them, any curl in my lashes I created using my normal eye lash curlers was lost almost instantly.

Overall Performance: 1/5 I was really disappointed with this mascara, it was far too wet and even when I applied a second coat it did nothing for my eye lashes. Because the formula was so wet it stuck some of my lashes together giving an uneven finish and after applying a second coat this just got worse. The brush is a normal bristle styled brush with a spiraling pattern, I like the look of the brush at the start, but I soon noticed that it held too much product and in some areas there were huge clumps of mascara. The formula was too thin and wet which did nothing for my lashes at all, it also clumped and smudged on to my upper eyelid during application. The mascara didn't flake, smudge or transfer during the day and comes off easily with my normal make up wipes. Overall this mascara made my lashes look worse and I would rather have bare lashes, the photos above don't look too bad but if you compare them to previous reviews you will see the natural length of my lashes, this mascara made them look shorter!

Volume: 1/5 This mascara didn't add any volume to my lashes, it just defined what was all ready there but at the same time weighed them down making them look shorter and stumpier. I wouldn't recommend this mascara to anyone with fine, long lashes like mine because it just weighed mine down too much and I haven't experienced this before with a mascara.

Expense: 1/5 For £1.99 this mascara is a good price, but I wouldn't pay that for this mascara based on the results I got, I'm afraid I will just throw this mascara out because I really couldn't use it again. I looked on the Boots website and this mascara had loads of great reviews on there, it goes to show that a mascara is different for everyone and you never know until you try it.

Overall this mascara didn't give my lashes the look I was after, I felt it clumped quite a lot and gave me an uneven finish. It added a small amount of length to my lashes but nothing amazing even though I applied two coats.

Length: 2/5 This mascara didn't really add much length to my lashes, definitely not as much as it claims. Any length I did get I had to apply a second coat which clumped really badly and got all over my eye lids and was just a mess as the formula was too wet.

Overall Performance: 2/5 I don't think this mascara performed very well, it clumped a lot during application and when I was finished applying it, it still looked clumpy. I had to apply two coats to get any effect and this came with a lot of clumping, I think the style of the brush held a lot of product and didn't comb through the lashes very well. The brush is standard but slightly more point and all of the bristles are the same length gradually getting shorter, the bristles are quite tightly spaced together, I think this made the clumping worse because it didn't separate the lashes at all. The formula was too wet and during application it got all over my eye lids and below my eyes. Although the mascara didn't flake or smudge during the day my lashes did deflate after a few hours of application making them difficult to see at all, I prefer a mascara to hold my lashes in a curl all day, this is the first mascara I have tried that deflated at such a quick rate. It did come off easily with my normal make up wipes.

Volume: 2/5 Although this mascara doesn't claim to add any volume to the lashes, it gave me some volume to a certain extent, however I feel this may be down to the clumping and I would much prefer a smoother effect to my lashes.

Expense: 2/5 For £1.99 this mascara is well priced but for the price I paid and results I got I wouldn't use this mascara again and I definitely wont buy it again. It does get loads of great reviews on the Boots website and I'm sure this mascara works wells for some people, it just didn't work for me.

This mascara retails at £1.99 which is a great price, this collection is also often on a three for two offer in Boots. The first one I tried was the Natural Collection Lash Build Mascara in Black.

Overall this mascara was fine, it didn't really give me enough definition and volume despite applying two coats, however it did give me a really nice, soft natural look to my lashes and some people like this natural look so it would be great for those who want this look.

Length: 3/5 This mascara didn't add any length to my natural lashes although this mascara doesn't claim to be a lengthening one I did like the effect it gave my lashes, it defined them without clumping but I don't think this would be suitable for those with shorter lashes looking for length.

Overall Performance: 3/5 This mascara performed well to an extent, it didn't clump at all even while applying a second coat, I did feel that the second coat made no difference to the appearance of my lashes. The brush is very standard and is thicker at the bottom and peaks at the top, the brush held a lot of product which I though would lead to clumping but amazingly, it didn't. I found the consistency of the formula to be slightly too watery, I don't mean too wet because it wasn't I just felt that the formula was too thin and didn't make any difference when applying a second coat of mascara, however it did give me a nice natural look and this would be great if this was the kind of look you were looking for. It separated my lashes nicely which again gave a nice natural look to my lashes, fine for days I'm not doing much. The mascara didn't flake, smudge or transfer during the day and comes off easily with my normal make up wipes. Overall the formula just wasn't build-able which the mascara claims to be.

Volume: 1/5 Unfortunately for a lash building and volumising mascara this one just didn't deliver what was promised. I feel I didn't get any added volume to my lashes, close up in the photos above it looks decent but if you were further away you couldn't make out my lashes. Don't get me wrong I did like the natural look and I can use this look on days I don't make as much of an effort, but I think for a volumising mascara this just wasn't good enough for me, but if you just want to define your natural lashes or want a really natural look then it might be worth giving this one a go.

Expense: 3/5 For £1.99 this mascara is well priced, but the price I paid and results I got, I couldn't justify buying this one again, that being said I did like the look it gave to my lashes, it separated them and defined them giving me a lovely natural look and I will use this mascara again until I have used it up.

Tanya Burr Lip Glosses

Today my Tanya Burr Lip Glosses arrived from Superdrug! You can view her full range here on the Superdrug website. I have wanted these since they came out and I finally ordered a couple for £6.99 each which is a good price for a quality lip gloss. There is a great range of colours available and they all have the best names!

The colours I ordered were, Picnic in the Park and Just Peachy, I just choose these colours from viewing the pictures on the website, from what I have heard they are really pigmented so I thought the colours would be true.

Just Peachy is a pale peachy, pink colour, I think it may be slightly too pale for me but I don't currently own a pale/nude pink lip colour so I'm glad I have this now to try out some new looks.

Picnic in the Park is my favourite of the two, I just love the colour its a brighter more coral, pink so its great for a fresh spring look.

The glosses are a nice consistency with amazing pigmentation, the colour you see in the bottle is the colour that come off of the wand. It lasts as long as you would expect a lip gloss to last, especially a non-sticky one and because the pigment is so strong the colour lasts a lot longer on your lips and sort of stains the lips even when the gloss has worn off. I love Picnic in the Park it is just beautiful I am going to wear it all the time now and I can't wait to buy more of Tanya Burr's lip gloss collection!

Yesterday I bought some Bourjois Mascaras, they were on three for two and I had birthday money to spend, one of the mascaras I choose was the Beauty'Full Volume Mascara in Black. It usually sells for £7.99 although I bought this in a three for two offer in Superdrug.

Overall I have to say that I don't really like this mascara because I felt it clumped too much and it made it so frustrating to apply. The first coat was nothing special, it really just defined my natural lashes but as soon as I started to apply a second coat I instantly regretted it, it just clumped so much!

Length: 3/5 I really didn't feel this mascara added much length to my eye lashes, the length it did add was in the form of tiny little clumps which you can see in the pictures above. The formula was also quite thick so it kind of weighed my lashes down a bit. However this mascara does claim to be more of a volumising mascara so I cant expect it to give me drastic length, my lashes are naturally long anyway but it did define my natural lashes well.

Overall Performance: 2/5 Unfortunately this mascara really didn't do it for me mostly down to the clumping during application and the thick, clumpy look of my finished lashes. The brush is very standard but on the thicker side and it holds quite a lot of product which didn't help with the clumping problem. The formula is slightly too thick which meant that when applying a second coat of mascara it just clumped and took ages to apply it nicely which was annoying. It didn't really separate my lashes well but I think due to the formula being so thick it stuck them all together which gave me a sort of spiky lash look which I know some people like but it wasn't the look that I wanted from this mascara. Overall it was just too thick and clumpy to deliver a fanned out, separated and even result. The mascara didn't flake, smudge or transfer during the day and it came off easily with my normal make up wipes however I did need an extra one because the mascara was quite black and thick.

Volume: 3/5 I suppose this mascara did add volume to my lashes but only through a clumpy and annoying second coat, they still looked clumpy when I finished my makeup. I do know that some people like this sort of look though, a thicker, spikier lash look so I would give it 3/5 because although I didn't like this look personally on myself, other people may like it and it did give volume to my lashes. Plus it actually looked good in photos later from a further distance.

Expense: 2/5 For £7.99 this mascara isn't badly priced, but I feel for the results I got and the price I paid I wouldn't use this mascara again nor will I put it into my daily makeup bag. The formula really was just too thick and prone to clumping and left my lashes looking uneven and clumpy, not the kind of look I am after for my eye lashes.

Overall I think this mascara is pretty good, I liked the brush and how you could use both sides for different effects. It did add some extra volume to my lashes without clumping too much during application.

Here is the brush, you can use both the curved and flat side, its a proper bristle mascara brush rather than plastic

Length: 3/5 This mascara did add some length to my lashes which are already naturally long, I don't think it added any great length to my lashes therefore I don't recommend this to people with shorter lashes looking for a lengthening effect. I added two coats which delivered the length you can see in the shots above.

Overall Performance: 4/5 I liked the brush of this mascara, it is full of longer bristles and is curved so you can use both the curved side and the flat side, I alternated between the two, the flat side it better for separation while the curved side helps with the flared out look. The formula is almost perfect but can be slightly too wet which gets on to your upper eyelid during application, it also made some of my lashes stick together when using the curved side but as I said before the flat side it better for separation. The formula held my lashes in the same place all day and I could remove it easily with my usual makeup wipes.

This mascara was fine for separation but only when the flat side of the brush was used. It defined my lashes well and did fan them out to an extent but nothing amazing. I did feel during the application process my lashes were combing outward to the corner of my eye which was quite a nice look.

Volume: 3/5 This mascara did add some decent volume to my really fine lashes, it also didn't weigh the down which tends to happen with mascaras. I used two coats to achieve the look above. I don't think it added a false lash effect to my eyes so it loses marks as this is what it claims.

Expense: 3/5 I think this mascara is a really good price at £7.99 plus Maybelline have offers on regularly. I liked the results I got and because this mascara lasted so long I would give it 3/5. However, I don't think I will buy this mascara again because I already have mascaras that I prefer.

Collection 2000: Volumising Mascara Review

Collection 2000 Volumising Mascara

A couple of days ago I saw this new Collection Volumising Mascara on offer in my local Boots store, it is a new mascara launched from Collection claiming "This high impact mascara comes with an extra large wand to thicken and separate lashes ensuring every lash is coated evenly for up to ten times more volume."

I thought for the introductory price of £2.99 it was worth trying, I saw the brush and it reminded me of Max Factors False Lash Effect mascara which I like but found it flaked during the day.

I wasn't that impressed with this mascara, I found that it didn't add the amount of volume to my lashes that it claimed, even after two coats. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad but I just think if its a volumising mascara then it should deliver more volume.

The packaging it a really pretty colour and its a chunkier bottle.

The brush is really big and had loads of tiny bristles on it.

Length: 2/5 I don't think this mascara added much length to my lashes but it does claim to be a more volumising mascara so this didn't bother me too much. However I usually find after a second coat of mascara some length is added to my lashes, having long lashes naturally makes it difficult to see drastic results but I just didn't see any with this. Unfortunately this mascara did not hold the length and curl of my lashes it provided when first applied, they deflated half way through the day.

Overall Performance: 3/5 I found the consistency of this mascara to be too wet, this made it difficult to build any volume without my lashes all sticking together. It didn't clump while applying but it did bunch lashes together which is just as annoying. I thought the brush looked amazing but I found it was rather painful when it came into contact with my lash line, the bristles are just slightly too sharp for me. It didn't really hold all day either with my lashes deflating slightly after a few hours of wearing this, it didn't flak or transfer during the day though and it comes off easily with my usual makeup removing wipes. 

I found this mascara to be average for separation, during application my lashes kept sticking together because the formula was too wet, it did define my lashes well though and the colour "Ultra Black" helps with this. I think it's good at defining my natural lashes but the thick, wet formula made the application process so much longer than usual, it also got all over my eye lids when applying so I had to take extra time to remove it.

Volume: 2/5 I think because this mascara claims it is a volumising mascara I have to mark it lower because I just didn't feel I got much volume at all from it. I did apply two coats of this mascara but I didn't see much difference than when I just had on one coat, the formula is just too wet to build on the lashes, unfortunately this "volumising" mascara didn't give me as much volume as it claimed. It did define my lashes though and gave them a natural look.

Expense: 3/5 This mascara is a good price, but I don't think it is volumising enough to be worth the money I paid. I did like the definition it gave my lashes but I wont be purchasing this one again.

Overall, I really liked the idea of the brush but just found it uncomfortable at times during application as the bristles were too sharp. The formula was just too wet which made it difficult to get my lashes separated and fanned out as I like and took longer than usual to apply. I think the fact that my lashes also deflated easily would stop me buying this mascara again, I have used numerous mascaras that can hold all day. I'm glad I tried this mascara but it really didn't give me enough volume.

Today's review if of the Miss Sporty Studio Lash Incrediball Mascara in Extra Black. Please excuse the rubbish lighting, today is a really horrible dull, rainy, cold, windy day and I usually just use natural lighting so I have had to make do.

"Exclusive 360° Brush catches EVERY LASH …Now with extravagant volume, fanned-out lashes and no clumps." I bought this mascara for £2.99 from my local Boots store, you can purchase it here. I bought this mascara when I saw the brush, I thought it looked really cool and was eager to try it out.

Overall I'm not too fussed about this mascara, I found it just defined my eye lashes more than anything else. I do like the idea of the brush but I found that it did clump on my lashes as the formula was quite thick.

Length: 2/5 This mascara didn't really add much length to my lashes, as my lashes are already quite long it just defined them so it is difficult for a mascara to add a substantial amount of length to my lashes, some I have tried in the past have done this but this mascara didn't seem to add any length, just more of a natural defined look.

Overall Performance: 3/5 I really do like the idea of this brush, but unfortunately I didn't get the results from it I expected. The consistency of the mascara is slightly too thick, this meant that it clumped on my eye lashes a little which made application time longer. The formula didn't flake or smudge throughout the day and I could easily remove it with a make up wipe. By the end of the day my lashes had deflated a little bit, but I had been out in the strong winds and heavy rain so I think it held pretty well considering.

This mascara was great from defining my lashes and did a decent job of separating them, however because the formula was rather thick it made some of my lashes stick together and clump up which made the application process harder. It did give a fanned out look to an extent, but some eyelashes were stuck with tiny clumps, I like both my eyes to be perfect and symmetrical! I really liked the brush on this mascara, It has the ball shape on the top which can be used for all different angles, it is a rubber/plastic brush with lots of small bristles on it. Having the brush on the end also helped to separate my lashes and remove some of the clumps when I used it up and down rather than the regular way using the length of the whole brush.

Volume: 3/5 This mascara did add some volume to my lashes, although I still think it looks quite natural and defined I did get some added volume to my otherwise fine eye lashes. This did however result in some clumping which can be seen in the shots above, I think you would only notice this if you were looking close up, but the mascara does claim that it doesn't clump.

Expense: 3/5 This mascara is a great price at only £2.99, but I don't think the results I got were what I expected. This mascara is fine for defining your natural lashes and I really do like the brush, maybe if the formula wasn't so thick it would be less prone to clumping. I think it would be good for those with already longer lashes, but if you are looking for more length then maybe this mascara isn't the one for you.
